The American Sewing Guild is a national non-profit organization dedicated to “Advancing Sewing as an Art and Life Skill”. Its purpose is to provide information, education, and programs for its members and the community. Membership to the guild is open to the public.

The Philadelphia Chapter of the American Sewing Guild (ASG) was established in March of 1989 and currently has 197 members and 9 neighborhood groups. We are a group who love to sew, share sewing techniques with each other and sew for charity. The 9 neighborhood groups meet monthly sharing a common interest and developing friendships. Our sewing enthusiast enjoy garment sewing, quilting, home décor, embroidery, embellishment, crafting and much more.

Chapter sewing events include:

• Annual Sewing Retreat - escape with sewing friends for a fun filled weekend
• Annual Luncheon & Fashion Show
• Seminars and Hands on workshops from sewing professionals to inform and inspire members with new or alternate sewing techniques
• Community Service Projects for

  • Ronald McDonald House
  • Maternity Care Coalition
  • Fairy God Mothers
